Where There's a Will, There's a Widget

I have been involved with computer technology for 40 years now (yikes!). As you can imagine, it has been both EXCITING to see how things have advanced and CHALLENGING to stay on top of things. I started my career as an Information Systems Specialist which simply means, I figure out how to get computers to do things so people can save time, make sales, and be more productive.

What I am doing now is exactly the same thing because I can create these solutions for my client businesses and organizations. And as I continue to ask the "what if" questions on behalf of my clients, technology seems to manifest solutions; hence my latest mantra: "Where there's a Will, there's a Widget".

Let me address the reason I focus on Widgets (which is defined by Wikipedia as "an application, or a component..., that enables a user to perform a function".

  1. Why re-invent the wheel? Reason one has been around since the dawn of man. If I (or you) think up a function, chances are someone has already invented a solution. And chances are it is robust (tested), flexible (the product of many minds), and supported (be sure to test support so you don't spend time implementing and find bugs and no support)
  2. One size does NOT fit all in the web-world. Every business is different which is why website is different. AND in my 40 years of experience I have NEVER found a widget that did everything just the way I wanted it. There is no perfect widget because to be good they need to specialize so they tend to do some things WELL and other things, not so much. With various widgets, you can integrate the BEST from each world to come with the best solution for YOUR business.
  3. Evaluating the Pros and Cons. As with everything there is the good, the bad, and oftimes the ugly. Be sure to consult with people who have "been around the block" (like us) so we can help you factor in time and cost against time and cost SAVINGS! We offer a FREE Digital Diagnostic to assist you.
A website is more than just marketing, it should also address Customer Service, Education, Sales, and Communication. Stay tuned as I will write a blog post on each category...
