Size DOES Matter (for digital images at least!)

If you have ever waiting for images to render on a website or in an email, you know that can be frustrating (and frustration is NOT good for business). So make sure the visitors to YOUR website don't have that experience.

So here is a quick video how you can using a FREE program available at http://www.faststone.org/FSResizerDetail.htm
to resize images AND do a batch. This is a great time saver if you have several, even dozens, of images to resize.

Here are some quick guidelines for images for websites:
  • 800 pixels is good for images especially if you want to offer an enlarged version for a photo gallery. Don't make them too small (less than 400) as they will look fuzzy if you ever want to use it as a larger image
  • 1000 pixels wide is good for image headers (that span the width of your website)
  • 1920 pixels for background images
If the image is still taking long to render, you might try adjusting the resolution (DPI = Dots Per Inch). 72 to 96 is good for low res; 150 to 300 is plenty for most website needs.
